The Raj Vir Singh Yadav Foundation aims to raise global awareness of different types of Hepatitis viruses and diseases and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation organized the India’s first Hepatitis Desk on 4 December 2006.
Approximately 500 million people worldwide have either hepatitis B or hepatitis C. This represents 1 in 12 people, and was the basis for the setup of the – "Apollo CLASP Hepatitis Project" by The Raj Vir Singh Yadav Foundation.
The Hepatitis Desk has been setup in collaboration with the Indraprastha Apollo Group of Hospitals, New Delhi and CLASP (Children’s Liver Disease Awareness and Support Programme). The hepatitis desk seeks to educate members of society at large on the causes, steps for prevention, treatment and other aspects in respect of viral hepatitis, a life consuming disease, which attacks the human liver and is increasingly spreading across the nation at an alarming rate.
The Hepatitis Desk is closely involved in working with hepatitis infected patient undergoing regular dialysis at the Apollo Hospital. The Project coordinator interact with close family members of these patients, patiently explaining the activities of the foundation and providing basic hepatitis related literature and possible avenues in which the foundation can assist these patients with, amongst other, free of cost vaccination and procuring general consultant/ medical advice for the treatment going forward. The coordinator notes down and maintains elaborate investigation and prior treatment records for each of these patients.
